Residency Program

One of our department’s primary functions is to use our residency program to teach future generations of physicians to have successful careers in radiation oncology. Combining extensive training in radiation biology and radiation physics, the renowned radiation oncology program provides a strong foundation in multidisciplinary patient care.

Using the very latest advancements in medical technology, radiation oncology residents learn to be expert multi-faceted, evidence-based decision makers.

Evidenced-Based Decision Making

The Department of Radiation Oncology treats more than 250 patients per day across eight facilities in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. Residents gain extensive skills in the following:

  • Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
  • Image guided radiation therapy (IGRT)
  • Tomotherapy®
  • Gamma Knife® Radiosurgery
  • CyberKnife® for both intracranial and extracranial tumors

In addition, clinical trial participation is a priority of the department and consistently is one of the nation's top participants to Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) trials.
