Division of Point of Care Ultrasound

The University Hospitals Emergency Department Division of Point of Care Ultrasound introduced the concept of point-of-care ultrasound diagnostics to the care and treatment of patients in the emergency department at UH. Ultrasound of AAA with debrisPoint of care ultrasound  has been shown to improve operational efficiency, to increase patient satisfaction and to provide more effective and accurate care.

The division runs the department’s clinical program in point of care ultrasound with image archiving, reporting and quality assurance programs that ensure excellence in this field. The Division also sponsors a mandatory training program for all emergency medicine residents at UH in point of care ultrasound, a fellowship training program designed to grow future leaders in the field and an educational mission to bring point of care ultrasound imaging to the entire service line of emergency medicine in UH affiliated institutions.
